3 New Jobs in Heavensward, Dark Knight, Astrologian, Machinist

Heavensward is getting closer, there will be 3 new jobs to add, Dark Knight, Astrologian and Machinist. They are Tank, healer and DPS. No matter the appearance or the motion, the 3 jobs are designed exquisitely. Here is a video which shows some details of them.

l  Dark Knight

Dark Knight (暗黒騎士), first officially announced during the FFXIV 2014 London Fan Festival, is a Tank job that wields a Greatsword (2-handed sword) as its weapon. It wields not only a weapon but also the power of Darkness (magic-based tank).

Unlike other tanks, Dark Knight will use MP instead of TP as its main resource. Dark Knight uses MP to cast a darkness buff that drapes the player with a darkness aura. Play style revolves around maintaining the aura, using it for defense, to buff yourself, or offense, to damage your enemies. It is a new style of tanking.

l  Astrologian

Astrologian (占星術師) is a healer job much like White Mages and Scholars. It was introduced in the FFXIV 2014 Fan Fest in Tokyo. The job will use Star Globes, viewing devices with an enchanted deck of cards, as its weapon in battle. Astrologians tap into the power of the stars to cast potent healing magic and use constellations-based divination cards to support the party in battle. While in battle, the Astrologians will be able to switch a healer stance or a barrier stance. Depending on which stance they are in, the Astrologian's spell will give off a different effect.

l  Machinist

Machinist (機工士), is a ranged DPS job introduced in FFXIV 2014 Fan Fest in Tokyo. The job’s main weapon is the Firearm. Machinist will use specialized mechanical equipment such as attachments to the firearm along with deployable turrets.

With deployable turrets, Machinist can perform a support style role in addition to the DPS role. The turrets can attack enemies, debuff enemies or buff allies. When using attachments on his gun, Machinist increases his DPS and transforms his weapon to something similar to a cannon. He will charge up before an attack and movement will cancel the attack and reset the charge. If you need to be constantly on the move, don't use attachments. Gun actions require a stacking gun powder (or ammo) buff. Learning when to reload will be an important skill.
