I am a hardcore fan of Star Wars: The Old Republic, and have
been playing it for about 5 years, never stop. Many friends had ever played it
with me at the beginning, but they changed to play other MMOs when SWTOR
suffered its downturn. They always ask me why I like SWTOR so much. In fact, I
do not give the exact reason, maybe I am a person with a lasting love or just pursue
an individualistic heroism.
When it comes to how to start my galactic
trip, I remember this clearly. Compared to SWTOR, I was familiar with Star Trek Online first, which was the
MMORPG my favorite hero Sheldon played in Big
Bang Theory. I started playing STO, but it did not successfully arouse my
interest, STO space combat was really, really fun. The f2P model in STO was
light years ahead as well. But I just didn’t feel connected to the ground
missions. At that time, I heard that SWTOR was coming soon, I also liked watch
Star Wars movies, so I was looking forward to its coming.
On December 20, 2011, I was one of the
most subscribers (here my friends introduced a reliable gold store
to me, and I am a loyal member of it all the time). It was hard to say why I
was crazy about SWTOR at once. The legacy system in SWTOR tended to be far more
intuitive and actually gave you more bang for your buck - whereas STO had far
more grinding required for every captain you made. Talking
of alts, I had eight alts on SWTOR, but only three in STO. In SWTOR I could
take that alt up to 60 in a matter of weeks, while in STO leveling an alt took
a lot more time, effort and dil (especially for gear).
Considering my heroism, I chose Jedi
Covenant-Republic, and enjoyed fighting with Sith Empire so much. Excellent
voice acting, brilliant class storylines and awesome lightsabers in SWTOR, no
other MMORPGs. One million subscribers within three days of its launch made it
the world’s “fastest-growing MMO ever”. At first, my friends taught me how to
fast level and play difficult dungeons. Gradually, they lost their interest in
SWTOR because players never really saw many of the endgame contents until
finishing their class quests (and even then, players were forced at gunpoint to
make a subscription before doing them more than a few times). Even though I knew
that there were some defects in SWTOR, as a loyal fan I decided to support
Bioware all the time.
To my joy, SWTOR-Knights of the Fallen
Empire, The fifth expansion fixed previous flaws, providing more free gameplays
for subscribers. Not only the old players returned back, but also a large
number of new gamers showed their interest in KotFE. The
storylines (so many new stories are added) were
still the lightspots of KotFE, and its companions
were what gamers focus on. Now, the new KotFE chapter 11 is released on March
10, Disavowed follows the Outlander’s story beyond Anarchy in Paradise and
re-introduces a familiar face, Major Jorgan, the commander of the elite
soldiers of Havoc Squad. Then KotFE chapter 12: Visions in the Dark, releasing
April 7, players will venture deep into the savage wilderness of the planet
Odessen to face the immortal Emperor Valkorion for the first time since
becoming the Outlander. I know that there must be any other guys supporting
SWTOR without reasons, like me. Let’s wish SWTOR a bright future.
